History

Paragon Crew, 1988

The Paragon group of companies was founded in 1986, when Ken Hawes and Al Breitkreuz opened Paragon Ventilation, a commercial full-service heating and air conditioning company. In 1988, Ken and Al incorporated Paragon Investments Ltd., and proceeded to purchase half of the building that they were renting. In 1990, Paragon Mechanical Ltd. was formed to provide complementary services to Paragon Ventilation Ltd., and began servicing the commercial market with HVAC repair and preventative maintenance services for customers in Edmonton and area. 1996 brought expansion into the Calgary marketplace with Paragon Ventilation - Calgary operating as a division of Paragon Ventilation. In 2000, Paragon Ventilation (Calgary) Ltd. was incorporated to allow for the addition of two key employees as shareholders and business partners - John Strychun and Brent Gursky. In 2008, Paragon Mechanical (Calgary) Ltd. was formed, following the earlier Edmonton model.
